... shocking ...

first day of 2009 morning and here i am at the airport rushing my assignment.. totally have no motivation to do the assignment so decided to skive.. hee.. checking my facebook, reading friend's blog, etc. at the same time chat a bit; hopefully to catch up old times with my long-lost friends..

then, i saw my long lost ex-colleague on msn.. didn’t talk to her for a while, hence asked about the usual questions, how are you, how you have been, etc. till i asked her about her love life..

she told me she had a new love.. which i feel so happy for her.. as i knew previously, she was devastated about her last relationship of a few years.. and because of that, she had lost quite a bit of weight.. become very haggard too..

then came the shocking part i got.. her new love is her new born son!! who is born in sept..

i'm really shocked, stunned, amazed, whatever you could think of.. words were lost for that few seconds when the words appeared on my screen..

first of all, i never knew she was even pregnant!! next, i always saw her online but didn't had the opportunity to chat with her.. i'm someone who doesn't know how to start a conversation.. she was flying around due to her new job and thought she have overcome the sadness eventually..

most probably, the kid belongs to her ex-boyfriend, but why didn’t she let him know and choose to be a single mother?? 可能她有自己的苦衷吧！

i’m not looking down on single mother but it sure takes a huge amount courage to be one.. in short, single mother have more factors to overcome than a complete family.. the gossips, the stares and other scenarios.. I always admire/salute single parent as it’s not easy to be one.. has to be a father and/or mother’s role at different time..

sigh! 真不知道這是好事還是壞事。我從來都沒想過有一天她會是個單親媽媽。往往事情就是這樣，永遠超出我們想象範圍。I used to have a ex-colleague who is a single mother too.. in the end, she left as she couldn’t take the kind of ‘discrimination’ that my colleagues had with her.. now, this friend (different company i.e. different ex-colleague) is another single mother among my circle of friends..
